This Sucks!

Question of the day is: How excited can one possibly be over the purchase of a NEW vacuum for cheap?

And the answer for you: PRETTY FREAKING EXCITED!

Reason being that my vacuum broke before our last move and I have been having to borrow anyone and everyone's vacuums or face the day having nasty floors from having a very mobile, food carrier and mess maker at my house (aka Aurora, not Dan, for those wondering).

So today, before Dan headed to work, he said he'd seen a that a woman was selling a vacuum on the St. George Yard Sale page on Facebook and he told her he wanted it. He then gave me the address of the woman and asked if I'd pick it up!
Uhm, hello!
Of course I'll pick it up!
I've been needing/wanting a vacuum since forever!

It was just up the street from me so I jumped in the car with Aurora and we headed that way. When we got there, I discovered that the vacuum was brand new and had never even been opened! Bonus!

So the good news around here for today is that I get to clean the crap out of my house and show my carpet some love. And if you're concerned that that will be a really boring and horrible day, stop it right now! I love having a clean house. Love it!

Thank you to Dan for letting me purchase said vacuum, and thank you to FB for having city yard sale group pages! It's the little things.

Oh, and P.S. Yes, I did a photo shoot of myself holding the vacuum, and yes, I used my tripod I got for Christmas to do it. Enjoy it! That tripod thing works pretty grand!

Can I Please See Your ID?

My goal for this year is to get organized. I have a fairly clean house (lately, I've been obsessed with cleaning. It's weird) but I just don't feel organized. Soooo, it's been happening. Slowly. But, still...

Anywho, I ran across some gems from my "glory days" in high school haha among other things from prior times in my life so I'll probably be doing a few posts so you can share in the goodness! Don't ya love the high school IDs? I know... you're all jealous of how good looking I was as a freshman and sophomore. You don't have to say it.

7 Q Take 2

First, I must say that I've learned that all I ever cook for pretty much all meals is oatmeal (the instant, fruit and cream kind), stuff with tortillas, casseroles, and pasta. Yeah, I'm thinking it's lame.

Second, I went to my friend, Melanie's, baby shower last night. I feel like all my friends are having these cute babies or are preggo right now and... well, it's making me want one a little bit haha I've just gotta keep telling myself, "You graduate in May. You can make it til then!"

Also, last night, Dan and I went to see Total Recall at the S8. We were the only ones in the theater besides this creeper, loner man who was... all alone (hence the term, loner haha) AND when I left to use the bathroom during the middle of the movie, thunder clapped LOUDLY and the power went out. And Aubrey was working concessions and she screamed super loud and it was hilarious haha The good thing was that when I went back into our theater, it took them a minute to get the movie back where it was and the part they started it on was exactly where it was when I had left so I didn't miss a thing. It was great! So thank you, power outage!

Now, without further ado, I present to you, 7 Questions Take 2 plus a beautiful picture of me that was taken at the Utah County Fair last year bahaha ...floating llama head:

#1. Bold or Understated?
I'd say I'm a mixture of both. A good mixture. Sometimes I'd be ok with being more bold though...

#2. You have to survive alone in the wild and you only get to take one thing with you. Your choices are: A Pocket Knife, a Water Bottle, or a Book. Which do you choose and why?
I would take a pocket knife, I guess. haha That way I can "tango" with any wild beasts that think I look yummy!

#3. Thirty Two Cows, Seven Eight Chickens, How Many Didn't?
Well, Imma say the spelling of the word "eight" on this one made this riddle a little mysterious BUT if that was it's purpose and it was meant to be thought of as "ate" then 25 cows did NOT eat chickens. HA!

#4. Would you rather die doing one legendary act of service or do small acts of kindness that may go unnoticed every day?
Well, I'd say that I'd rather do small acts of kindness every day because those usually mean the most in the long run anyway. "By small and simple things, great things shall come to pass", right? AND besides, you aren't supposed to do service for the recognition or it isn't really service.

#6. Can you laugh without smiling?
haha YES! But it makes me sound like a creeper. If I had a video phone, I'd totally take a video of me creep-laughing without smiling. Unfortunately for you all, I don't. Haha  Dangit!

Every day. Multiple times a day. I'll probably have arthritis when I'm old and I'm ok with that.

Awk & Awe

Awkward:
-Finding men's underwear in the theater the other night. Don't know what it is you are up to in Cabin in the Woods but it needs to stop.
-Hearing what may or may not have been growling coming from the old man reading magazines behind me in the SUU library. Sketchy.
-The fact that today is Thursday and I've thought it was Tuesday all day so I was 20 minutes late to work. Sorry, customers of Little Women.
-My left eye is constantly watering.
-The things Dan says to my sisters sometimes... yeah.
Awesome:
-I didn't have class today AND we finished IQ testing! IQ tests are tedious and boring and long so try to avoid them at all costs. Let's just hope that I get some score above 70, yeah?
-I went to dinner with Becca at Costa and it was yummy! Sweet Pork Salad basically makes my life. And sister talk time was much needed.
-Cedar finally has a new clothing store! 'Bout time. Welcome, Rue 21!
-The weather has been absolutely GORG' today. It's beginning to feel like summer. Looooove it!
-I beat Dan's high score on Jeweled. That's right.
-Dan took me to get fro-yo at Krave. Mmmm!
-We're playing Frisbee Golf at the university tomorrow with Bec and Paul. So excited!
-Making a trip to St. George on Saturday to go to a session at the Temple and visiting Dan's grandparents. Yay!
-First work partay at the theater on Saturday night...

That's alright. That's ok.

So, Jimmy (my awesome vehicle) is, unfortunately, broken down.
That's right.
It's been a sad few weeks 'round here at the Johnson house without our "get-around" vehicle.
Especially now that we only have our wonderful old van to get us around.
Yup.
But really, it hasn't been too bad.
Fortunately, we live close to the university, and I can walk to work and back everyday.
It's actually been really nice.
Our neighborhood is really beautiful in the summertime!

But, in addition to seeing some beautiful sights, walking has also given me some "what the....???" moments.
You know, where you see something awkward or totally out of place and you go, "what the...???"
Yeah. I know you know it.

Examples of "what the...???" moments:
a. Walking home, almost to my house, I pass some girl and two boys going into a house. The girl says to the boys, "If you guys help me go to the bathroom, I'll help you." Uhmmm... what the...??? I'm hoping I just came in at the wrong time in the conversation...
b. Leaving work, walking out of my office, and looking down the hall just in time to see an OLD man CHANGING his clothes by the drinking fountains! Really?? What the...??? Change at your house!

Yes, well, that's all I can think of right now but you get the gist.

A & A

These little cuties made my day! (Abby and Kailey while I was babysitting them)

Awkward:
-The awkwardly nice man I met in the birthday card aisle at Wal-mart and the awkward conversation we had about Grandma's after that...
-The lady I met (also in Wal-mart) with the Therapy dog that isn't really a therapy dog. Confused? Yes, well she said she got the vest for her "Therapy dog" on sitstay.com so that she could take her dog anywhere without question. Innovative or just weird?
-The man at the checkout stand of Wal-mart who thought he knew me...but didn't really. (Love how 3 of these have to do with Wal-mart?)
-The way Blogger is posting my stuff with so many spaces. Grr!
-Trying to eat the extra crispy chicken from KFC without a plate. Or a napkin.
-My cousin, Kailey, peeing her pants while standing right in front of the toilet. She's 3 and potty training.
Kailey: (from the bathroom while I'm putting on her sister, Abby's, shoes on in the other room) Liz! There's water!
Me: (going into the bathroom) Well, Kailey, you silly girl! You peed your pants!
Kailey: I know, Liz! I am silly! (then she laughed)
-The way my tongue feels after licking 15 envelopes. Yuck!
-Our house is dirty and smelly. For reals. We don't have even one clean dish and I'm starting to run out of clean clothes.

Awesome:
-Finding the Reese's that I put in the drawer at work. I forgot about that!
-Husband lined me up to teach the young men in our ward how to swim. I'm kind of excited!
-That I got called to teach 9-11 year old girls primary.
-Having our family picture on the wall of this WONDERFUL Korean restaurant in Provo called The Fusion Grill.-Playing with my cute little puppy, Roxy, all night :)
-The Chocolate Chess Pie my mom made last night and let us sample! YUMMMMY!
-The summer weather we've been having. It's beautiful in Cedar!
-We're going to the Northern of Utah tomorrow and we get to see Dan's family!

Awkward & Awesome

Welcome back to my life, Awkward & Awesome Thursdays.

Yes, I have missed you.

Not because of the "wonderful" awkward & awesome moments in my life, but because of the moments I get to read about on Sydney's blog, The Daybook.

Honestly, that girl is super cute and funny!

If you haven't read her blog, I think you should.

Cause you'll laugh your buns off. (not literally. no worries.)

So without further ado,

Awkward:

-Going to work with wet hair because I woke up late and I was in desperate need of a shower since yesterday I decided that showering was optional.

-Frantically running outside with my hair in a towel to drop off the trashcan on the curb just as the garbage man gets there to pick it up. (Phew! Made it!)

-Accidentally dropping my "little pink pill" in the toilet on my way to get a glass of water...good thing I had a couple extras...

-Dan reaching over and rubbing my booty in the night when I leaned off the bed to get a drink of water...while he was still asleep haha (or is that awesome?)

-Thinking the pizza I put in the oven was cooked all the way through only to find that the whole center is doughy

-The amount of dishes accumulating in our sink. You don't even want to know.

-Guys who tuck their t-shirts into their jeans when their jeans are pulled up past their bellybutton.

Awesome:

-The homeless/hippy looking man who occupies the corner by Ace Hardware. I expected to see him holding a sign that said, "Need food." or "Out of work." but instead his sign said, "Don't forget to smile!" It was great!

-It's going to be 70 degrees in Cedar today. (It's about stinkin' time!)

-Being able to stay in bed with Dan until almost 8am instead of the usual 6am.

-The game Boxers or Briefs. So funny!

-I just sold 2 tickets to the Utah Summer Games Opening Ceremony! This is a major accomplishment since they've been on sale now for almost a month and we haven't sold more than about 10 tickets...Come on, people!

-Watching 5 episodes of Prison Break with Dan last night, in our bed, while eating homemade pizza and Butterfinger ice cream. Oh yeah!

Scooters & Pinball

Awkward:
-I forgot to take out the trash this morning before coming to work. (Not exactly awkward now, but it will be when the trash starts bubbling over the top of the trash can later on this week...)

-This video of me making fun of my sister who rides a push scooter home from work... the imitation I'm doing is sort of nightclub/shopping cart/scooter-esque

Awesome:
-Last night Dan and I hopped in the work van and headed over to Grandma and Grandpa Johnson's house to change it's brakes.

The breaks were VERY much needed and it was good that Wade could help Dan change them.

BUT I am pretty sure I got the better end of the deal because Maddie, Kimberlyn, Mickel, and Sydney were all there and Grandpa Johnson had got the old pinball machine up and working.

Guess what that meant?

Yep, some great times playing pinball and chasing Sydney around. Haha

All those girls are so cute! (And it helps when they all want to have you on their team for pinball tournaments and they all want to tell you ALL about their cats and their science fair projects. I loved it!)

-After we left the Johnson's, we headed over to my parents' house so that Dan and I could talk to my mom about some stuff.

When we finished that, my sisters all got home and we ended up having a way good time talking with everyone and just laughing our heads off.

We found out that Stephanie's phone does a little circle dance when you stand it up and then call it when it's on vibrate. (We all laughed super hard at that and made my dad call her phone about 72 times so we could keep watching it) You want to see it?? Oh good! Here it is:

Thursday goodness

Awkward:
-The amount of dirty dishes I have stacked on my counter
-My shirt gaping open up on the shoulder area, making my underclothing quite visible to those around me
-Shaving your armpits. Really, it's just weird... don't get me wrong, while I am definitely PRO-shaving your pits, I still think it's weird that we (women) have to do it
-School projects/group projects. Ok, so, this isn't really awkward just dumb. I have a negative attitude towards the things.
-Taking 3 hours to vacuum out my car cause of all the dirt/mud. Everyone who drove past my parents driveway got a 3 hour show of my bum cause I forgot to wear a belt...

Awesome:
-Having a wonderful husband who will hug, comfort, and reassure me when I'm having a complete meltdown over the 'stresses' that plague my mind during long days. I really don't know what I'd do without him-Going to SUU's Dancing with the Stars with Dan, Steph, Mike, Becca, and Steve. It was so fun! Lots of laughs, ooh's and awh's, and just an all around good time. I envy people who can dance...
-Spring Break is next week! I'm not doing anything exciting but just to have no class, will be excitement enough!
-I only have one class left this week
-The weather is SO nice today :)
-I'm wearing the scarf my Grandma Barclay knit for me. It's beautiful
-I gave some of the cookies I made to my mom and she shared some with her teacher she's student teaching with at the middle school (foods teacher) and they both LOVED them and want the recipe
-I finished book #2 of The Hunger Games series...onto the final book!

Awkward and Awesome. Today.

Awkard:
-The ground is wet because it rained...but the sky is blue so uhm...what's up with that?
-Having a hard time with 5th grade math when you are in college. Raise your hand if that is you. (Yep, I'm raising mine)
-People in public bathrooms who walk in an out of every stall until they find the one they want to "go" in
-You know when you have to "pass gas" but you are in a public location so you just hold it in? Yeah well, it's awkward cause you feel like at any moment you might just let it go
-It's also awkward that I just posted that to all the bloggin world
-Having a Kindle and having EVERYONE ask you how you like it and what book you are reading
-Begging Marissa to take off her shoe in math class so I can see her stitches while the teacher and everyone else listens in and stares at me like I'm a loony
-The plig singing opera outside of the box office. Well, maybe she's not a plig. BUT she has a french-braid like one and a dress like one and shoes like one. I hope no one is offended by my use of the word 'plig'

Awesome:
-Dan left his breakfast home today so I dropped it off to him at work before I went to work. When I left, a guy he works with said, "Woah, your wife is hot!" It made me smile

-I'm wearing the primary colors today!

Blue sweater (Forever 21); Yellow striped shirt (Thrifted); Red leather bag (Roxy); Jeans (Silver Brand); Black Flats (Blowfish)

-I made ham and cheese crescents for lunch and they were yummy
-Dan came home for lunch and as he walked in the door he started humming a song loudly and then came over and hugged/danced with me while I made lunch and told me he loved me ♥
-I bought The Hunger Games series for my Kindle and started reading it last night FOR THE FIRST TIME (I know, I'm behind the times) and I'm already 15% into it. I honestly don't want to put it down for a second!
-Dan and I get to go watch Erin's very FIRST orchestra concert tonight. I'm so excited to see her play!
-Temple on Saturday!! (I just thought about it and I'm excited so it makes it on the awesome list)

Be my valentine

First of all...

Awkward:
-Trying to fill up my water bottle at the drinking fountain on campus. You know, when the water pressure constantly changes so you follow the water around with your water bottle so you can catch all the water... yeah, you sort of just end up looking like an idiot. BUT on the bright side, I did end up with a full water bottle
-Drinking so much water that you have to pee thirty times a day. (ok, maybe not THAT much but it feels like it. and always at inconvenient times)-A boy practicing his sword fighting skills outside the box office with a stick. Yeah, I told Collette she should've ran over and challenged him to a duel... She didn't.
-The weather. That pretty much sums it up. It's about time we all face it; Cedar weather is just awkward.

Awesome:
-Remember playing Oregon Trail in elementary school? Yeah, well I found it on Facebook and I'm pretty much a trail master haha totally made my day
-Having Bec, Collette, and Dan all come visit me at work today
-Collette made a good "awesome" point to me today...if the plural of ox is oxen then wouldn't the plural of box be boxen? Think about it.
-I get to drive Big Bertha home from work (aka our 15 passenger van that Dan uses for deliveries. It's natural gas. Yeah, we're cool)
-Finding out in math class that I have 24cm sized shoes. We were making bar graphs.
-Finding out in math class (math was very enlightening today) that I had 20 letters in my full name when my last name was Barclay and that I now have 20 letters in my full name with my last name being Johnson. (Count 'em! E-L-I-Z-A-B-E-T-H A-N-N-E B-A-R-C-L-A-Y or E-L-I-Z-A-B-E-T-H A-N-N-E J-O-H-N-S-O-N)
-We now have Netflix.

And that concludes, Awkward and Awesome Thursday! (I'm hoping it was somewhat enjoyable but I also understand that it wasn't that entertaining this time...)

Also, it's time for a little update on married life! (*clap clap clap*)
-Dan and I have been married for 1 month and 2 days
-Dan is a sweetheart and SO good to me! He got me a plant for our house, a box of Nerds, and a note for our special day (our 1 month anniversary/day after Valentine's). The note made me want to do one of those dramatic running leaps onto him and then wrap my legs around his waist and kiss his face very passionately, it was THAT good :)

Oh Crud.

Yes, well, I forgot (almost) that it is THURSDAY. And you all know what that means, right? Awkward and Awesome Thursday! Duh!!

So here it is:

Awkward:
-The way my nose whistles when I breathe.
-The scratchy almost inaudible way I said goodbye to Dan this morning (my throat was sore, ok?)
-The fact that I ate 4 cookies from the box my boss brought to share with our office. They were chocolate chocolate chunk. I couldn't resist. Yeah, I'm a pig.
-Thinking that I was prepared for my math test...until I sat down to actually take the test and I saw the problems...(the sad thing is that it was on probability and decimals. yes, 5th grade math)
-The fact that it is colder in my office than it is outdoors.
-Dinner for Schmucks. We rented it from redbox and it was awkward and weird. In a ...good way. haha
-Me having 2 posts in one day. Let's not talk about Tuesday's multiple posts...

Awesome:
-Getting woken up by Dan when he brought me a drink of water and gave me a kiss.
-Having NO classes today because they were canceled
-Getting most of my shopping done. (we aren't going to starve! yay!)
-Having a clean house
-Dan's text to me this morning: "hey! i love you!"
-Not having to stress about taking my math test anymore because...I already took it
-Eating yummy leftovers for lunch (hamburger helper is the bomb!)
-The fact that I now have some mini oranges in my fridge! They are so cute and yummy!
-The fact that I am going to get 8hours of work today (not excited to be at work that long but I am excited for 8hours of pay)
-It's almost my dinner break
-It's Friday Eve! (you know you're excited too)

I know, I know, today's post was slightly boring. BUT next week I'm determined to have more awkward and awesome moments! Have a happy Thursday :)

Awkward and Awesome

I wish I could be one of those people who does a way awesome blog that people want to read all the time. You know, those awesome blogs that show off people's creativity that people like me waste their day (or work day) away looking at...sigh...maybe one day.

BUT you should all read this post about bathrooms that totally made me LOL (that's 'Laugh Out Loud' for those of you who don't know) because it reminded me of a fully awkward thing that happened to me while I was using the bathroom at SUU last night (the story comes later so hold your horses).

SO...I've also decided to start a little thing called Awkward and Awesome Thursdays (started by Sydney over at The Daybook). I love reading hers so I thought I'd give it a little try!

Awkward:
-Going to the bathroom after getting off work (at the men's basketball game) and having a random little 4 year old girl peek through the crack in the stall while I was going. Yep, she didn't just take a quick peek, she stared. For awhile. And when I came out, I wasn't the only one she looked in on. Where was this girl's mother?! (this was last night but I needed to share it AND it was indeed awkward)
-Rock climbing on the rock wall in the P.E. building for my stress management class. I have ZERO arm strength and the guy 'helping' didn't understand how freaked out I was. I was A LOT freaked out. BUT I will attribute it to the fact that we got put on the spot that was rated a 5.10 or something and the other guy said that was the hardest spot. For my partner's turn we moved to a 5.7, so that's why she did better than me...yep.
-Coming home for lunch and having to hurry and shut the door to my room because Dan and Steve got home at the exact moment that I was changing my shirt. No worries, I shut the door in time.
-Telling Dan and Steve about my rock climbing experience and having them just stare at me and ask why I thought it was so hard. Yeah...they have arm strength. They wouldn't understand.
-Talking to a girl in my math class about studying for and taking the math test next week during our regular class time. She told me she couldn't because she had a class during that time. I said "Yes, but next week we don't have to go because she gave us that time off of class so we could go to the testing center to take the test." She said, "Oh yeah! We are in the same class..." haha awkward!
-A lady came to ask how much it would cost to get her granddaughter into the gymnastics meet tomorrow night. After I told her she just stared at me and smiled until I said, "Is that all?" and she said, "Oh. Yes.", smiled, and left.
-The song called Disco Stick by Lady Gaga. Enough said.
-The people outside my window cleaning it right now...they are really close to me working...

Awesome:
-Waking up at 5:30am and being able to snuggle with Dan until he had to go to work at 6am
-Sleeping for another hour after he left, then showering and making it to work...almost on time ;)
-Telling my boss about the little bathroom experience during the basketball game that I explained in the 'awkward' section (he laughed pretty hard haha)
-Watching The Big Bang Theory with Dan during lunch
-Watching The Big Bang Theory and eating ice cream after Dan left instead of going to my math class (I'm a rebel)
-Being invited to Hug a Tall Person Day (February 11th) via Facebook. Yeah, my husband is tall! Cha-ching! Watch out, Dan!
-Dan is making dinner tonight :)
-We are leaving town tomorrow to watch my sisters swim at state swimming! Go Becca and Collette!

Well, that's all for now! I need to start posting the wedding stuff!
