Wednesday Is My Day Off

Wednesdays are my day off... usually. And today, I had the day off... because it's Wednesday. SO I had big plans for my Wednesday, to have fun hanging out with my little cutie, Aurora all day since it was just going to be us.

But then we both slept in and I thought I'd have to babysit my friends' little girl after school and things just weren't working out.

So I was bummed. And Dan's out of town, helping his dad, Steve, with his courier business since he's sick from starting chemotherapy and having a bad cold on top of that. Ugh!

I was just feeling stuck in the house and down.

Around 3:15pm, I was packing Aurora into her car seat to go pick up our little friend from school, when her mom called to say that she ended up getting off work early and I didn't need to babysit today! Woo! Not that I don't love our little friend, but I had "big plans" to do something today, remember?

So I kept Aurora in her seat and we headed out the door with $21 in hand and a plan to find toddler shoes for my walking babe. OH MY GOSH! I forgot to tell you guys! WE HAVE A WALKING GIRL ON OUR HANDS!

Anyway, I needed to stretch that small wad of cash in my wallet as far as possible because I also needed diapers... hmmm... yeah.

For you moms who buy diapers, you know that this was basically not going to happen. Diapers are freaking expensive.

Lucky for us, I remembered seeing an ad on Facebook about a diaper sale happening at a store here in St. George called Traders Discount Markets, so before we left the house, I called them to see if they had some in stock... They did!

Oh! And I also called the Iron County School District to have them activate my application for some open elementary teaching positions! Eeek!

But then, we were on our way!

You guys.

Traders had diapers on sale for pretty much HALF OFF the regular price for the EXACT brand we buy!
I wanted to jump up and down for joy! I didn't.
And I wanted to buy all the diapers on the rack! I didn't do that either... only $21, remember?
So I left there spending only $15 for 138 diapers! That is a steal!

People, that was step 1 to turning my day around.

Step 2 happened after searching Walmart and Target for semi-cheap toddler shoes, to no avail, and ending up at the D.I. (All Target brought us was a fun little jam session with the Beats by Dre headphones haha)

I tried a few pairs of shoes on Aurora at the D.I., had her walk around in them (that was adorable), we chose two pairs, and then we paid for them! Guess how much?

$6!

I spent EXACTLY what I left the house with. Oh, success, you make me happy.

Then we drove around for a bit, enjoying the beautiful scenery of St. George and the summer-like weather before stopping by Albertson's on the way home.

Just one question for ya, Cedar City... Why the heck did you get rid of our Albertson's?! That store has everything! haha I love it!

I left with comfort food (guacamole, chips, a mango, fruit leather, and mini ice cream cartons) and pictures of my cute shopping buddy, so that went well.

When we got home, I watched a small portion of Lilo & Stitch with Aurora before putting her to bed. I am so lucky to be her mom! She is the sweetest thing!

Oh! And I got to talk to one of my best friends, Natalie Wade, tonight on the phone and she let me know that she will be coming to visit St. George in two weeks! I was so happy! I miss her!

AND THEN right after that, I checked Instagram to see that I had WON A CONTEST!!! It wasn't anything huge, but I never win! Never! I was so excited! You all have no idea!

I won a cute little stuffed bunny for Aurora from Apple Park Kids!

And then my cute hubby text me to say he missed me. And my dad called. And my sister-in-law, Kaela, posted a picture for me on Facebook saying they missed me being there.

So even though I'm alone tonight, I don't feel lonely. And even though my day seemed doomed, it turned out pretty good.

This Sucks!

Question of the day is: How excited can one possibly be over the purchase of a NEW vacuum for cheap?

And the answer for you: PRETTY FREAKING EXCITED!

Reason being that my vacuum broke before our last move and I have been having to borrow anyone and everyone's vacuums or face the day having nasty floors from having a very mobile, food carrier and mess maker at my house (aka Aurora, not Dan, for those wondering).

So today, before Dan headed to work, he said he'd seen a that a woman was selling a vacuum on the St. George Yard Sale page on Facebook and he told her he wanted it. He then gave me the address of the woman and asked if I'd pick it up!
Uhm, hello!
Of course I'll pick it up!
I've been needing/wanting a vacuum since forever!

It was just up the street from me so I jumped in the car with Aurora and we headed that way. When we got there, I discovered that the vacuum was brand new and had never even been opened! Bonus!

So the good news around here for today is that I get to clean the crap out of my house and show my carpet some love. And if you're concerned that that will be a really boring and horrible day, stop it right now! I love having a clean house. Love it!

Thank you to Dan for letting me purchase said vacuum, and thank you to FB for having city yard sale group pages! It's the little things.

Oh, and P.S. Yes, I did a photo shoot of myself holding the vacuum, and yes, I used my tripod I got for Christmas to do it. Enjoy it! That tripod thing works pretty grand!

Moon Walk

First things first. The lunar eclipse last night was freaking awesome! One of those times when I'm feeling lucky to be in the "right place at the right time" aka on Facebook bouncing my baby to sleep and seeing KSL's post reminding people of the 'blood moon' at 1am. So Aurora fell asleep in my arms, I kissed her goodnight, put her in her crib, and ran out on my porch to see if I could see the moon... aaaaannd I could! Super clear, too! Yay! What an amazing thing to witness! It was so pretty!

I tried taking multiple pics but they did it NO justice so I had a small debate in my head over whether or not to wake Dan. I then decided that I would wake him but he was dead to the world and mumbled something like "Thad's nice. Take pigdures. Lub you." and turned over instead. Haha. After that, I ran back out to the porch, realizing I'd never get a good pic but that everyone needed to see it so... I posted to Facebook and text my dad. See, whenever I'm up late or can't sleep, I can always count on my dad to be awake too. Yeah. Not that night. haha the ONE night he's asleep at a good time. Bummer.

Anyway, it was really beautiful and I feel happy to have witnessed it. AND even happier that my amazing cousin, Melissa snapped a photo cause I totally stole it. Thanks Melis!

Oh! So this afternoon, I decided to go on a walk. Then I decided "Why not kill ~~two~~ three birds with one stone and go walking to pay rent and pay Brandon for working with Dan?" Well, I then ventured out to do just that thinking it was not as far as it actually was. Uphill. So after an hour, I paid Brandon via Krystel (who happened to drive past me in her car. Booya!) and then called Dan to pick me up/drive us up the hill to pay rent. Plus side is that I found a new part of the canyon trail called The East Bench Trail, which happens to run right past the entrance/exit to the C Trail AND I had a beautiful view of all of Cedar City and the mountains. Aurora slept most of the way but she woke up toward the end and just enjoyed the new sights. She's so cute! I love her as my walking buddy.

After Dan picked us up, we went by my parents' house to visit for a bit and then we came home to do a barbecue and watch Jimmy Fallon with Jeremy, Kaela, and Tasha + kids. Yummy food and fun night all around.

Before Jimmy Fallon came on, we put in The Princess Bride. It took me back to one of my first dates with Dan when we watched that movie at our cabin in Midway. Oh the memories! I loved having Dan by me on the couch to snuggle me like he did when we first watched it together. And after 3 years and a new baby, I'm 100% more in love with him. I'm so happy he's my forever. ♥

InstaTuesday #7

/I got new makeup from Mary Kay; since Dan's mom sells it, we got 50% off! Woo! Also, I captioned this one "Nice to 'nose' ya." haha I'm crazy. Welcome to the party./

/Dan and I babysat Jack again (while Jeremy and Kaela learned to do the photo kiosks that Clay and Leslie do for cruise lines) and we picked up Erin after school so we painted masterpieces with watercolors for about 3 hours. That kid. haha/

/I made up a new recipe and it was amazing! I call them Sloppy Joe Cups and for those of you wanting the recipe, here it is:

ingredients- About 1lb. hamburger (browned), 1/2 can sloppy joe mix, About 2 cans biscuits (pilsbury or whatever), shredded cheddar cheese

directions- Heat oven to the temperature indicated on biscuits. Grease your muffin tin (I used Pam and two 6-cup muffin tins). Flatten out your biscuits and place them in the tins. Brown hamburger and mix in sloppy joe mix. Scoop about 1 and 1/2 heaping tablespoons full of sloppy joe into the muffin tins on the biscuit (just fill the cup the biscuit made). Put in oven for the full recommended time on the biscuits (more if needed) or until browned. When there is about 2 minutes left on the time, pull out them out and cover with cheese then pop back in for the rest of the time. Pull them out when the cheese is melted and the edges of the biscuits are browned. Swirl a knife around the edges of the cups to get the muffins out and enjoy. (If you let them cool for a couple minutes before eating, you can pick them up with your hand and just eat them that way)/

/Well, here it is; my "final" (my compilation of everything student teaching) for student teaching. 4 inch binder packed FULL! This was my last thing to do for student teaching so now I'm ready for graduation! Ahhh! This is so unreal!/

/Dan got to participate in The Relay for Life that The American Cancer Association puts on to raise money for families that have someone with cancer with the scouts in our ward. I went and walked with him for awhile. It was fun but chilly! Poor kid got to spend all night there haha/

/I have been eyeing these little succulents at Smith's whenever I go shopping and I finally got me some! Aren't they pretty? I die./

/Saturday after The Relay for Life, we went to New Castle Reservoir with Dan's family. It was so much fun and Dan caught lots of fish!/

/Just, you know, having some quality Facebook time with my Dad haha/

/I love going to my parents' house! They always have the yummiest food. Fresh strawberries and one of my favorite treats that my mom makes, chocolate rolled rice puffs. If I cook for my kids like my mom cooks for me, my kids will be in heaven haha/

Dirty Laundry

Well, good morning, world. 9am is here. I don't have classes today so I shouldn't be awake. Buuuuuut, the hubster is up and gone. Cutting wood. So here I sit. Wide. A. Wake.

I guess I should be grateful because it's keeping me from being ~~cozy~~ lazy in my bed. Laundry is on the agenda this morning (unless someone wants to come do it for me...) along with a shower and some homework/studying... maybe. Oh, and a diet coke and some cold pizza for breakfast. Aaaaand a little blogging (obviously), Facebooking, and Pandora listening to fill in the cracks of open time. (A Day to Remember and Taking Back Sunday are keeping me company. Yeeeeeesss!)

It's basically freezing around these parts so I hope it snows sometime. Just not this weekend cause we're going up to Salt Lake to see my grandma for Christmas. But suuuuriously, it's winter... not to mention, Christmas in like 15 days. I am grateful that it hasn't snowed yet for the fact that Dan has still been able to do some landscaping and wood cutting to make us some moola. Dan is the most hard working person I know. I love him for taking such good care of us (and for a BUNCH of other reasons ♥ ).

Speaking of Dan, I hate when he has to leave for work early in the morning. Can't we just all quit our jobs and never have to work again?? haha I know I'm being silly and pout-y but that just means I like him, right? I'm entitled to some selfishness. It shows my love ;) haha

Stained Glass

Sneaky, Sneaky

I am pretty sure that Dan has some sort of surprise something in the works for my birthday. He's being very sneaky ("sneaky sneaky, sir" - name that movie!) and I know something's up. Hmmm... wonder what it could be. I have a cute husband!
Speaking of Dan, he hiked Kannarra Falls yesterday with Krystel. They practically raced up it... hence, why I chose NOT to go. I'm more of a "check out the scenery and leisurely walk" kind of girl. After they finished hiking, we watched This Means War over at Brandon and Krystel's house and ate Panda Express. It wasn't as awesome of an eating experience as usual seeings how Dan and I are both still fighting off the stomach monster but the movie was funny and I got in some good cuddle time on the couch with Dan ♥
In other news, I'm really wanting to go on a trip up north! I am dying to see my grandma and to see my best friend, Natalie, and to see my cousins and aunt and uncle in Spanish Fork (you know who you are!) AND I really want to go to Seven Peaks! I say that every summer and it just never happens so I am determined to make it there this summer!

This is easy. I love my friends. They've gotten me through a lot and they've definitely made my life a lot more lively and fun! I would consider any of them a part of my family. I think they are wonderful!

Well, I thought it would be fun to do but now I'll admit that I'm getting slightly bored with it. Hence, why I am doing days 12 days at once haha

I've learned so much this past month. I honestly learn something new everyday in almost every aspect of my life. I've learned things about school, about work, about my family, about my friends, and about my relationship with Dan. It's amazing

right now my favorite song is probably Teenage Dream by Katy Perry. haha I know what you are all thinking but every time I'm in the car with Dan, that song comes on so we sing to it and laugh together.

Phew, it's over! haha no more 30 day posts.

On that note, I'll just say that Dan's family was down this weekend for Jack's baby blessing and it was so fun to see all of them. I love them all more and more every time I see them!

Also, I watched part of Harry Potter 5 tonight and boy did it make me want to go see 7 WAY bad!! BUT...I will wait until the rush over it is done and then, and THEN I will go see it and I will be so excited! haha I'm a nerd.

Intervention.

I decided I'm kind of a facebook addict...
It's sort of... well, sad. haha BUT I don't feel TOO horrible about it because so is everyone else.
Which really isn't that good of an excuse, but, hey, what do you do? right?

SO, I coerced Dan into joining me in a "facebook fast" for a week starting on Sunday to help me become un-addicted to the social networking evil that it is. haha

Ok, so... I didn't really force him. He thought it was a good idea too. And besides, he'll be here so it'll be easy to help each other avoid it! At least I hope it will be... haha

Until then, I will be facebooking it up! Prepare yourselves, facebook friends. :)

"Sometimes" Experiences

Pretty sure that when I work at the box office, I usually end up sitting around doing nothing except facebook stalking (haha) or staring out the window. It's pretty exciting. BUT sometimes I see/hear random things that I think are pretty funny. So...I've decided to share those wonderful "sometimes" experiences with you.

#1. Yesterday, when I came into work, the painters were in the basketball office painting the walls so I walk past them into our office and close the door. A little while after doing this, I hear that they've put on some music to listen to while painting. The first song playing is "Our Song" by Taylor Swift and those boys in there are belting it out in girly voices right along with the music! And this continued on for a few hours to various other songs such as "Cowboy Casanova" and "You're So Vain", leaving me very entertained while I sat in my office. I don't think they knew we could hear them...which made the experience even better! haha

#2. It's currently about 9am and there is a guy sitting out in his new Chevy Camaro in front of the box office revving his engine. He's all alone and no one has come out for him to pick up and he wasn't dropping anyone off either. He's just sitting there revving the car engine. It's weird! Seriously, who drives to the university at nine in the morning so they can rev their engine and then peel out onto the road when they're done with that? It's just weird.

So you see? These "sometimes" experiences are entertaining and mind-boggling when you are bored at work.

In other news, I never posted pictures from this last weekend when Anne Marie was here so enjoy these next few pictures and short descriptions of what we did.

Friday night: Anne Marie arrived around 5:30pm so we went and got snow cones at the Tiki Shack and then went to see Despicable Me. (That movie is so cute and funny!) After the movie, we ate dinner at Costa Vida, went to the Ren Fair with some people from the pool, and roasted marshmallows at Carly's parents house. It was a good night.

Saturday: We started out the day by heading to the St. George Temple to do baptisms. We got there at about 10:30am and it was an hour wait til we could do baptisms. There was a youth group before us so we sat in the waiting area. While we waited about 35 other walk-ins came in. By the time we were all able to go in and they seated us in the chapel, we filled the entire chapel with about 40 walk-ins so they treated us like a ward. It was neat to see how many people were there to attend the temple and do work for the dead. It shows how important temple work is. When we finished with the temple, we ate lunch at Five Guys Burgers and Fries...BEST BURGER PLACE THERE IS!! Yum!! Then we drove home the back way (through Enterprise). It was fun because none of us had been that way and it was really pretty and rained a little bit. When we got home we changed and then spent the evening at the Ren Fair and the July Jamboree on Main Street.

Riding a Camel!!

That's right! We rode a Camel at the Ren Fair in Cedar City (of all places)! It was a cool experience! But also scary...I have a small fear of large animals up close...I think I conquered my fear!
